Lite'n Up!

A little while ago I've illustrated this little humorous book by Samara Q. Klein on how to diet while maintaining your sense of humor. It's called 'Lite'n UP' and is full of motivational giggles.
I have a couple of books to give away... so, if you'd like to see the funny side of dieting.... leave me a comment. I'd randomly pick two winners on Friday morning:)

kids around the world:)

This pattern was made for Unicef. I don't know how or when they would be using it... but I hope they use it. It's one of my favorites:)

The weekend just flew by me:) When the weather gets warmer, time just evaporates:) It was 26° on Friday. I opened all the windows and cleaned my office and the rest of  "our winter cave" (with some serious help, of-course). It's such a good feeling to know where everything is in the office! It truly defines a peace of mind.
A good portion of the weekend was spent sitting outside with a cup of coffee, pretending that time is an illusion and I have nothing better to do with it:) Ahhhh.... good times:)
Also, took a lot of pictures... and a few turned out good (above).

Chirp... chirp...

I'm starting today with a healthy dose of optimism! It's sunny, it's Friday, and the birds are singing:) Time for the spring cleaning of the office!
Here's a little pattern that might help you hear the birds also!
HAVE A FUN WEEKEND, EVERYBODY!

The Earth day turned out to be grey and rainy. Good for the flowers... not so good for a relaxing evening walk.
Margo stayed at home with a cold and missed her much anticipated 'Earth Day performance' at school... but, on the bright side... her birdhouse is now mounted in the backyard and is open for business:)
Lauren Child's "We are Extremely Very Good Recyclers" made a great bed-time story. I'm so proud of my little recyclers! At their age, I didn't even know what that word meant.

Everyday is an Earth Day.... and doubly so today:)

I just spent a whole morning without the internet! Now I know how deep my addiction runs.... DEEP!
Thankfully, it's back and I'm able to share this butterfly pattern with you:)

Naïve... is out!

The Naïve book is out and I'm happy to tell you that I'm a part of this fantastic compilation! As I was looking through some sample pages on the Gestalten site I've realized - 'the gang is all here!" Jenn Ski, Nate Williams, Matte Stephens, Heather Moore and many more of my favorites are a part of this neat book! Cannot wait to get my copy.
*Naïve documents the extraordinary renaissance of Classic Modernism, from the 1940s to 1960s, in contemporary graphic design. This compilation introduces a new wave of young designers who are rediscovering the stylistic elements reminiscent of classic graphic design such as silkscreen printing, classical typography, hand lettering, woodcutting and folk art and integrating them into their work.
I really love this new print by Amanda Kindregan and it is a 'must share'.

I'm it...

Well... what can I say... I finally got to this post:)
Over a month ago the awesome fabric designer Tula Pink tagged me to spill the beans on seven randomly honest things about me.... and, this is how long I've procrastinated.... so, here it goes:
ONE - I love my girls more than life, but I'm not the patient motherly type.
TWO - I don't know how to drive. It's been 16 years since I've turned 16 and I still don't know how to drive. That's a major missing piece of my personal independence... but I'm just too scared.
THREE - I'm 5 feet "tall". Compact design for small space city living:)
FOUR - I love animation and own (and have seen) every Futurama, Samurai Jack and Charlie and Lola episode (and movie) ever made ... and I'm not ashamed to tell you about this:)
FIVE - I love dancing and would gladly cut the rug at any party... after a few drinks (of course:)
SIX - I have 37 coffee mugs... and I want more (it's a broken switch)
SEVEN - If I manage to live up to the age of 70 - I'm taking up pipe smocking, gin & tonic at breakfast and mural painting in the nude:) Hey.... why not?

Welcome to my colorful bottle garden. Bottle gardening is all about rich inner world protected by thick bright glass:) Grow spirits! Grow!

imaginary friends pattern...

I guess you could say I'm into imaginary friends at the moment. Lola and Margo tell me about theirs all the time... so I figured... since I don't have time (lately) for real friends - I'll get me some low maintenance imaginary ones:)  How do you like this bunch? Look at them... standing in a pattern... basking in their weirdness:)... good times!

it was great!

Well... here I am again... back in the world of working, taking care and schedule... but my head is still in Mexico:)
It was great! I couldn't get enough of the warm ocean breath, the 'keep them coming' gin&tonics, the sunshine in the morning, the nothing to do...I could go on and on... but it would make me sad. Plus... I don't want to rub it in:)
On the way back, just to make sure that my reintegration into reality is complete, Anais got food poisoning from the airplane food (last time I'm eating on the plane)... and than they lost our luggage. However, that's nothing, because the rest of the trip was just straight out of a dream:)

Friday, April 3, 2009

The past few months have been all about 'GO GO GO'.... and don't get me wrong - I love that! In-fact, that's how I get through the winter:)....but now I feel the need to regroup, put some extra love into my girls and soak up some sun and some sea salt.
So... just like that, I'm taking my family on a vacation! I'm leaving tomorrow morning.... so off I go to pack my bags and cross off a few other last minute things from my to do list.
I'll see you all on the 14th:)

pretty on the inside...

Yes. That's right... this is a mixed media piece. Watercolors - meet Vector. Vector - meet Watercolors. I think they get along nicely together.

the circus came to town...

The town is of course in my head, and the circus is this pattern. It doesn't smell bad, the animals work minimal hours and Mr. Strong man has a big heart! All as it should be:)
Happy April Fool's Day!
